Straus Family Creamery ice cream, locally milled, spun by hand the way Doc learned at a sweet shop in San Diego. The Georgia Peach & Pecan has been on the board since opening week. Try it with a side of fries and a slow afternoon.

Marisol Halverson's mother taught her this one in their Poncey-Highland kitchen, and we have not touched it since. A full inch and a half tall, glazed with tomato-bacon jam, served until 4 a.m. because nobody should have to choose between sleep and a second slice.
